In Australia, air conditioning is a must, especially if you live in the tropics of Queensland as the Summer months are not only hot but humid making it hard to find relief from the heat. Therefore, many homeowners have made the switch to air conditioning as the temperatures continue to rise each year, but which system is best for your home?

Ducted Air Conditioning

Ducted air conditioning is a largescale air conditioning system that cools multiple rooms from a central point. This works by installing ducts throughout the roof or floor of your home and allowing the cooled air out through vents, which create minimal impact on your living space.

Ducted air conditioning is convenient and cost effective if you have a larger home that needs multiple rooms cooled at the same time. You can also use a zoning feature to cool certain rooms as well to reduce your energy usage. This makes ducted air conditioning very versatile for the whole family or for those working from home.

Split System Air Conditioning

Split system air conditioning uses two units to cool your home, the internal and external units. The external unit functions so that hot air can be drawn from outside, cooled down and released into the home through the internal unit. The internal unit is placed in a strategic position within the home so that it either cools down a certain room or living space.

Split system air conditioning is most commonly used in smaller homes or homes where only certain rooms need cooling. This is great for homeowners with smaller dwellings as they can save money on purchasing a smaller system that suits their needs.

Split system airconditioning also comes in a variety of options making it a functional addition to any home. These options include bulkhead, ceiling cassette, console unit and multi head systems. Each is designed to suit specific needs so that you receive the best result from your air conditioning.

The Best Fit For Your Home

If you are looking at purchasing air conditioning for your home then there is a lot to consider. This includes how large your home is, the rooms you want to cool, how large a system you need and the type of system that would suit you best. So where do you go from here?

Well, if your choice is between ducted and split system air conditioning then choosing the best fit for your home is easy!

Ducted air conditioning will suit you if you own a larger home and have a larger budget from your system. Ducted air conditioning is also hidden out of the way and is quieter for those who are thinking of aesthetics and noise.

Split system air conditioning is perfect for those who own a smaller home and are not worried about the internal unit being mounted on their wall. They are a cheaper option than ducted air conditioning if you are worried about price but are still powerful enough to cool your home efficiently.

Upgrading Your Home With A Brand New Oven

Upgrading or purchasing a new oven for your home is an exciting time. It’s one of the most used appliances in your home where meals, treats and the evening dinner is cooked on a regular basis. Therefore, it is important to consider what type of oven you should purchase as well as making preparations for it to be installed in your home by your preferred oven installer.

Purchasing a new oven

Let’s start with the fun part, shopping! Deciding on which oven to purchase can be a little tricky if you are not sure what to look for, so here is some information about both gas and electric ovens to help you choose!

Electric Ovens

Electric ovens are easy and convenient if you do not already have a gas line plumbed into your kitchen space. They tend to heat your food using up to three heating elements located at the top, bottom and rear of the cooking space, which generates heat with less moisture than a gas oven. This is great if you like toasty, dry food.

However, electric ovens do tend to dry out food a lot faster than gas ovens and are slow to heat the electric coils or heating elements to the right temperature. Depending on how much you cook, electric ovens are also a little more expensive to run over the long term but the difference is not too much compared to gas ovens.

Gas Ovens

Gas ovens are quite popular with many homeowners as they allow for more flexibility in cooking. With gas as the source of fuel, a gas oven requires burners within the cooking space to heat food. These are located at the top and bottom of the cooking space, which allows for heat to be distributed faster. Gas ovens also allow moisture to remain within the cooking space, which keeps food moister for longer so your meal is cooked thoroughly without burning.

However, gas ovens can be a little too moist for some dishes to cook properly which can affect the meal you are creating. You will also have to install a gas line to connect to your oven and ensure that you have a regular supply of fuel so you can cook. Though, in the long term, your running costs will be cheaper than an electric oven.

Preparing for your oven installation

When preparing to install your oven there are a few things you need to do. The first is to check whether your oven will fit into the space you have provided for it. If it is bigger than you expected or you are planning on installing a larger oven you will need to make the adjustments to your kitchen cabinetry or cooking area.

Also ensure that a gas line is installed if you have purchased a gas oven. If you cannot install one yourself you should check with your oven installer whether they could install a line for you. If you are switching from gas to electric ensure that your oven installer isolates the existing gas line so that your new electric oven is installed safely. Finally, make sure your oven is at your home and ready for installation when your oven installer arrives.

Oven installation

Installing your oven is simple and easy when you hire a professional electrician, such as ourselves, to perform the work. Both new electric and gas ovens require a qualified electrician to install them in your home as each has their own electrics that need to be connected.

Once everything is set up and working our qualified electrician can show you how your new oven works. This includes how your gas functions and how to ensure that gas is feeding to your oven so you can cook. Then all you have to do is start making your meals!
